Student Leadership

Our Principal Leaders act as role models, mentors and embody the ethos of the Academy. They have a crucial role in the image of the Academy and ensuring its success.

The Principal leaders lead charity fundraising and student voice amongst the whole Academy and represent the Academy at public and community events. They lead the Student Council and meet regularly with the Principal to discuss issues, review policies and procedures.

• There are 2 Principal Students and 4 Deputies who are selected from an interview process.

• Principal student will wear a principal student Tie.

Responsibilities​

• Collate student voice from all students once a half term on different topics. ​

• Meet with ALT once a half term to discuss student voice. ​

• Conduct assemblies once a half term to relay feedback to students from ALT meetings. ​

• Student Interview Panel.​

Responsibilities​

• Choose charities and student events.​

• Plan and organise fundraising events once a half term. ​

• Carry out fundraising events. ​

• Conduct assemblies once per half term to relay messages about charity events and the amount of money raised. ​

• Liaise with staff leaders. ​

Responsibilities. ​

• Use school calendar to choose which national and global events to raise awareness for. (Black History Month, Mental Health, LGBTQ+, Environment, Religious Festivals, International Women’s day)​

• Plan and conduct assemblies and workshops once per half term to raise awareness of event. ​

• Liaise with ALT during meetings. ​

Responsibilities.​

• Working alongside the current ECO club. ​

• Find new ways to reduce the carbon footprint and waste of the Academy. ​

• Lead on new academy plans to support our local community and HUB.  ​

Responsibilities. ​

• Supporting the transition team in planning and operating open days/evenings. Be a key member of the academy supporting new students in and around the academy. ​

• Think of ways to engage new year 7’s on academy visits and tours. ​

• Lead on Academy Open Evening and Parents Evenings.​

Responsibilities.​

• Working alongside the PE Department supporting and coordinating sports fixtures, in-house competitions and events.  ​

• Meet with ALT once a term to follow up any ideas. ​

• Advocate the school on external trips, events and fixtures. ​

• Support with extra-curricular activities.​

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing apps and making recommendations to support learning both in and out of classroom,
• Creating instructions for different pieces of software or apps to assist both students and staff,
• Running a lunchtime club to support students with iPad use, and
• Helping to inform others about the school’s e-safety policies.
